Mental health awareness week ended yesterday and I am still talking mental health. Mental health means so many different things to so many different people. To me now, the other side of depression, mental health is about improving and maintaining my mental health. Practicing self care, developing self knowledge consistently, understanding what is going on for me and how it is affecting my thoughts and emotions.

And not asking aggressive questions where I feel inadequate. Let look at how we can better use questions to help our mental health.

We default to why, why am I feeling like this? or why can’t I stop feeling like this. which is why I am reluctant to use why. So instead am going to ask “Why today?” as a precursor to “what is going on for me?”

How is it affecting me?
Who can support me?
Where do I need to be to feel safe?
When is a good time to practice self care?
