It’s mental health awareness week, but what does that mean for you?
Has it made you more aware of your own mental health or of people around you?

The idea is on these special days and weeks that to raise awareness raising of that topic, but they leave me feeling disappointed when it all stops and stop it does, unfortunately.

I never thought I would live with depression. I always had energy, I was happy, motivated (in some areas of my life), I was doing a lot of self learning. But what I didn’t know was how to protect myself against mental and emotional ill health.

It was a huge lesson to learn and I’m glad I did learn it now, because my happiness is more genuine now. My life is not perfect, I still have bad days but not days where my thoughts control me. I make mistakes and learn from them. I no longer self punish as I used to, I practice self care and am compassionate towards myself. This, and much more, I do daily to maintain good mental and emotional health.
